
Pakistan Society of Emergency Medicine organized an International Emergency Medicine Conference in Islamabad in Oct 2025. It was a collaborative effort of national and International Emergency Medicine consultants and attracted attention of plenty of people. The international Faculty chair Dr. Taj Hassan spearheaded it from outside and accompanied by the President PSEM Dr. Khawaja Junaid Mustafa. It involved emergency doctors from all corners of Pakistan and also various countries of the world including but not limited to Dubai, Saudi Arabia, UK, Ireland, USA and Australia.
The conference was preceded by six pre-conference workshops in five different institutions of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. These institutions included Shifa International Hospital, Combined Military Hospital Rawalpindi, POF Wah hospital, Childlife Foundation Center at SZABMU and Rawalpindi Medical University. The workshops covered hands on training of life saving skills and also point of care ultrasound (POCUS) as well as management of disasters planning.
International faculty along with local trainers ran all the workshops and engaged participants in learning those tasks. It ran smoothly at all places and kept the participants in learning mode. The disaster plan and the trauma were well received and for plenty of audience it was a new phenomenon to learn and simulate. Also a focus of attention was the point of care Ultrasound which was a sold out event. It shows that the people has started realizing the role of POCUS as a tool, rather than a service in itself.
The conference itself was held on 29th and 30th of October 2025. It was held in Shifa International Hospital Islamabad. It had two tracks to cover various topics and let audience hear to national and International speakers of eminence. The topics covered a lot of interesting aspects of pediatric and adult emergencies and also topics regarding team work and data.
Conferences like this are a great source of information as well as collaboration among the emergency physicians at the national and international level. This conference was done as a collaborative of C Halo along with shifa international hospital and Pakistan Society of emergency medicine. Participants of the conference enjoyed the warm atmosphere of the conference as well as the chances to meet with each other and uh collegial environment with good dining and meeting experiences.
